Yanui Beach Phuket

Yanui Beach is just another one of the beautiful and often overlooked beaches on Phuket Island. Between Nai Harn Beach and Promthep Cape is this tiny and so lovely little beach about 175 meters (191 yards) in length and around 15 meters (16 yards) wide on average. It goes virtually unnoticed because tourists are so focused on finding Promthep Cape, that they skip right by. Yanui Beach is a local’s favorite, and you’ll find as many Thais here as you will foreigners.

Yanui Beach is set in a little cove with a hill on each end, and has emerald green water and jagged rocks you can explore while snorkeling (snorkel gear rental available). There is a rocky bottom and some coral under the water, so bring protective rubber shoes for this spot. There are kayaks for rent here which you can use to paddle out to the small island, Koh Man, about 325 meters (almost a quarter-mile) away. Umbrellas and beach chairs are usually also available for a small fee.

To keep your hunger away and satisfy your appetite on a hot sunny day, the Yanui Restaurant, opposite the beach, has a very good selection of Thai and western food (pasta, pizza, and sandwiches etc.) as well as a good variety of drinks from water to fresh coconuts and cocktails to ice-cold Tiger or Chang beer. Don’t forget, while crossing the street, to look “RIGHT & LEFT”… you are in Thailand :).
There is also another restaurant close by; and you can always cater for yourself from the vendors passing through with fruits and snacks. There are also quite a few shops and restaurants 500 meters down the road towards Rawai. You should stop and have a look, this is one of the most scenic beaches and bays in Phuket – highly recommended.

Yanui Beach Clubs

There aren’t any beach clubs at this small beach.

Yanui Beach Restaurants / Bars

  • Krua Roi Rod Restaurant – this is the only restaurant on the beach at Yanui. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have many reviews, and didn’t get fantastic reviews either. One reviewer commented negatively that the som tam was sweet and sour. Yeah, well in Southern Thailand, that’s exactly what it is. The food in the images looks great. We recommend you try it if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, or at least hungry! They have tables under shade trees at the beach, a bar, and they serve lunch and dinner.

Yanui Beach Accommodations

  • Ban Yanui Beach Bungalow – set back 150 meters (164 yd.) away from the beach is this small no-frills beach bungalow with a small pool. Ratings are high enough that we can suggest you give it a try if you want to stay close to Yanui Beach. Single rooms start at 1,500 THB.
  • Yanui Seaview – small bungalows about 40 meters (44 yd.) from the beach on the north end of Yanui Beach. Reviews are good, but like the Ban Yanui bungalows above, there are few.

Yanui Beach Phuket – Reasons to Go?

  • Awesome Snorkeling! A snorkeling haven. This spot is ideal for snorkeling because you don’t need to take a boat out away from Phuket, it’s right here at the beach for you. Bring your own gear for best experience, the rental equipment is never up to par if you’re a serious snorkeler.
  • Good Family Beach. Quiet during low-season and not overly crowded during high-season if you arrive early. Some shady spots available. There can be trash on the beach, depending whether local businesses cleaned up the trash from the incoming tide. Do be careful of submerged rocks which can be sharp, and also have sea urchins.
  • Picturesque. A stunning spot, this is ideal for photos from the road, or at beach level. The water can be crystal clear, so bring your underwater camera if you have one.
