Koh Lon Island

Koh Lon is an island off the southeast coast of Phuket Island and is about 2.3 miles (3.7 km) long and 1.2 miles (1.9 km) wide. The island is a frequent destination spot for locals and tourists who can plainly see the large island just off the coast. Shuttles run back and forth frequently, so it’s something to do for a couple of hours if you have an adventurous spirit.

Though the east coast beaches on the coast of Phuket Island are typically muddy and without quality sand, some of the islands surrounding Phuket have nice white sand and little or no mud. The beaches on the island are Baan Mai, Cruiser, Poh, Lek, Y Deang, Bamboo, and Kwan.

Koh Lon Beach Restaurants / Bars

  • Baan Mai Beachfront Restaurant – On the beach and part of the resort, this restaurant was mentioned by reviewers on social media as lovely to dine at with chairs on the beach and food was rated as fresh and delicious. Food is brought in daily from the mainland.

Note – There is another nameless restaurant on the beach between the two resorts which received a couple of reviews. Three guests said the food was good. Thai food and seafood are served.

Koh Lon Beach Accommodation

  • Baan Mai Beachfront Lone Island Resort – Hammocks, beach chairs and umbrellas. You can eat in your room, on the beach, or in the restaurant. The food is rated as good. The rooms are ‘worn’ as a few guests put it, but they still rated their experience as positive. Breakfast buffet includes about six rice dishes with fruit and orange juice, coffee, etc.
There are free shuttles to and from the island if you stay here. It takes about 15 minutes on a longtail boat to reach Phuket Island. Power generators only run at night – so no electricity before around 5 pm. Room rates are quite reasonable at just 2,000 THB per night during high season.
  • Cruiser Island Resort – Top rated resort on Koh Lon Island. New, large rooms. Beachside pool and covered restaurant without walls. Bungalow style accommodation on the beach. Few people around. Drinks reasonably priced and delicious. Rate per night starting at just 2,800 THB per night for a small villa.
